Purpose of the role

Proton continues to scale at a rapid pace, and we're looking for experienced Site Reliability Engineers to join our team. As part of Core Engineering, you will be part of a high-impact, high-leverage team building APIs and services used by all of Proton’s products, including Proton Mail, Proton Drive, Proton Calendar, and Proton VPN. We value rapid velocity and quality execution, so as an SRE you will contribute to our continuous automation of toil, enable greater observability of our Core services, and drive and evangelize the four key DORA metrics. You will also help design and implement service improvements for performance and security, relentlessly improve reliability, and facilitate effective incident response, mitigation, and resolution.

What you will do

  • Establish service level objectives for your team and monitor service level indicators
  • Continuously improve our monitoring and observability strategy at the application layer
  • R&D new technologies & processes to optimize our application operations and performance
  • Promote SRE best practices in our application architecture, and in build and deployment pipelines
  • Contribute to work in our security layers

Job requirements

  • BA/BS degree, or equivalent practical working experience (10+ years preferred)
  • Have a software engineering background, or code development experience in one of the following programming languages: PHP, Python, or Go
  • Have knowledge of monitoring and observability tools and techniques
  • Have operational experience with Linux, MySQL, and containers (Docker or Kubernetes)
  • Are able to troubleshoot outages or performance issues in a large distributed environment
  • Have excellent knowledge of performance and security practices
  • Are fluent in English, our working language
