About the position

We operate our own infrastructure distributed across data centers throughout Switzerland and Germany. This infrastructure, built primarily on open source technology, is doubling every year and requires 24/7 operation.

As a member of the Infrastructure Team, you will be responsible for managing all infrastructure operations. You will ensure that all operational activities, incident responses, and change requests are tracked and carried out reliably and on schedule. You will take the lead on developing and maintaining hardware and on-site operations expertise. You will work closely with the Proton infrastructure and backend engineering teams, and your work will support all of Proton’s products and services.

What you will do:

• Lead the Infrastructure Team and ensure fruitful collaboration between the infra group and external partners
• Manage data center support, operations, and development
• Organize and manage Data center on-site or remote activities
• Support network hardware operations
• Carry out server hardware management and operations
• Build technical expertise for server hardware procurement
• Develop and maintain necessary tools and processes
• Create, validate, and maintain documentation for the infrastructure knowledge base

• 5+ years of experience in data center or system administration management role
• Proven experience as a system or data center engineer
• Experience managing relations with external partners (hardware vendors, data centers, etc.)
• Experience working in a large-scale environment
• Strong knowledge of server hardware architecture and troubleshooting
• Enjoy working across teams in an interdisciplinary manner
• Our international environment requires English fluency
  

 Knowledge in the following areas is considered a plus:

• Certification in data center management, IT service management, or project management
• Well-versed in security and with a good understanding of security best practices
• Ability to keep up in an extremely fast-paced environment
• Fluent in French or German
• Master’s degree in a relevant field of study and/or scientific background
